TAVIS MCKENZIE SIGNS ON TO SPEAK AT IMPACT

Toronto, ON - Those interested in entrepreneurship will soon have the opportunity to attend the year's largest student-run event in that field. The annual Impact entrepreneurship conference will be coming to Toronto on November 18 and 19. Bringing together industry representatives, educational partners and more than 300 students from coast to coast, Impact lets its delegates meet, learn, network and find exposure to job opportunities.

The conference's keynote speaker will be Harry Rosen, founder and executive chairman of leading menswear chain Harry Rosen, Inc. Also speaking will be Bill Tatham, an entrepreneur who sold his tech start-up company Janna Systems for a Canadian record of $1.76 billion to rival Siebel Systems in 2000.

Impact is pleased to announce another high-profile speaker has been added to this year's Impact roster. Tavis McKenzie, a graduate of the Schulich School of Business (BBA 2001) and President and CEO of Kalendar Productions Inc., will be bringing a wealth of knowledge to this year's conference. A leader who chose not to follow a traditional career path, although Tavis spent his summers before graduation working both in corporate tax at Andersen and in sales at IBM Canada, he ultimately turned down a job offer from one of the Big Five accounting firms after graduation. Instead, Tavis elected to start his own business and founded Kalendar Productions Inc. in 2002, in order satisfy a void in the student advertising market. Kalendar Productions Inc. has placed media for companies such as: Famous Players, Harvey's, McDonald's, Dexit, and TD Canada Trust.
The Impact conference offers students the opportunity to sit down with conference presenters, conversing with them and asking questions in intimate environments: during meals, between conference sessions and at after-hours social events. In addition to high-profile speakers, students will have the opportunity to meet passionate, ambitious like-minded students from across Canada, all interested in the subject of entrepreneurship.

The weekend conference will also feature workshops, breakout sessions and a silent charity auction. One conference highlight is a case study
competition, pitting teams of participants against each other, challenging them to come up with the best solution to a real-life entrepreneurship problem.

The evening of November 18 will bring a formal banquet to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre with Rosen's keynote address, which is open to the public for a nominal fee. The banquet will host 600 guests and feature a charity silent auction.

The conference serves as a flagship event for Impact, a student-led organization committed to promoting the educational and professional development by allowing students to explore and learn more about the entrepreneurial world. Impact's mission is to foster innovators, thinkers and economic movers, to stay competitive in a global economy. More information is available on-line at www.impactconference.ca.
